When worry won’t let go
Anxiety can feel like your mind is racing ahead into every “what if.” Your heart pounds, your sleep slips away, and the fear won’t switch off. Jesus never shamed worried people. He spoke to them gently.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6–7).
It doesn’t say “stop feeling it.” It says bring it to Him — and let His peace stand guard.
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7).
Give Him all of it, because He cares about you.
Jesus pointed to the birds and the wildflowers. Your Father feeds them and dresses them — “Are you not much more valuable than they?” (Matthew 6:26). Then He said, “do not worry about tomorrow” (Matthew 6:34). Not because tomorrow doesn’t matter, but because He will already be there.
And feeling afraid is not the same as having no faith. The night before the cross, Jesus Himself said, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death” (Matthew 26:38). What did He do with it? He prayed — honestly, and more than once.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27).
His peace isn’t the world’s kind. It can hold even when things don’t change.
Sometimes the fear lifts quickly. Sometimes it lingers, and that is not a failure. Keep handing it back to Him, as many times as it takes. One simple way to start: name each fear out loud to God, one at a time. Then read Psalm 23 slowly.
If fear is heavy today: we will pray for you by name.
