When someone you love is gone
The shortest verse in the Bible: “Jesus wept” (John 11:35). He was standing at His friend’s grave. He knew He was about to raise him — and He still cried.
So crying is not weak faith. The Bible calls Jesus “a man of suffering, and familiar with pain” (Isaiah 53:3).
He gets it.
The Bible never says “don’t be sad.” It gives you words for the sad: “How long, LORD? Will you forget me forever?” (Psalm 13:1).
That’s in God’s own songbook. He can handle your worst days.
“The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18).
Close. Not far away watching. Close.
And for people who belong to Jesus, grief changes. It still hurts — but it isn’t hopeless: “we do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope” — because “Jesus died and rose again” (1 Thessalonians 4:13–14). He beat death. So death doesn’t get the last word. One day He “will wipe every tear from their eyes” (Revelation 21:4).
If today feels heavy: we will pray for you by name.
