A family with the porch light on
We’re the Friend family — and yes, that’s really our name. None of us are pastors — we’re simply a family in Kentucky that believes one thing with everything we have: Jesus is the Friend of the broken, and He changes lives.
And we love the church. Jesus loved her first — He “gave himself up for her” (Ephesians 5:25) — and gathering with His people is His design, “not giving up meeting together” (Hebrews 10:25). Our porch light is here to help you find your way to a church family — never to take its place. If you don’t have a church, our prayer is that soon you will.
Think of this site as our porch, with the light always on. It’s where we tell the truth about the seasons that break people — addiction, divorce, grief, abuse, doubt — and about the Friend who meets people right in the middle of them. Everything here is grounded in Scripture, in context, and in what Jesus Himself said and did. Nothing hypothetical. Nothing invented. Just His words and real lives.
“The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18 (NIV)
What we do here
We tell His stories. The Bible is full of broken people Jesus met at their lowest — we retell them in plain words, and in time, this site will carry the stories of people alive today whose lives He changed. If that’s you, share yours — someone out there needs to read it.
We point to hope. For every burden, Scripture that speaks to it — honestly, in context, without a lecture.
We pray. When you send us a prayer request, our family actually prays for you, by name. That’s a promise.
We make the introduction. Everything on this site leads to one door: meeting Jesus. He called people friends — not projects (John 15:15). So do we.
We point to sound teachers. We learn from solid Bible teachers ourselves, and we’re glad to share them — ministries like Living on the Edge (Chip Ingram), whose teaching is practical, true to the Bible, and all about living it out. And we don’t just point from a distance: our own family worships at Lost River Church of Christ, which streams live every Wednesday and Sunday — you’re welcome to worship with us. You’ll find both on our Resources page.
What we will never do
No memberships. No pressure. No shame. We won’t pretend following Jesus fixes everything overnight, and we won’t promise what Scripture doesn’t. We’re not here to build an audience — we’re here because somebody out there is awake at 2 AM and needs to know there’s a Friend who stayed.
“I no longer call you servants… Instead, I have called you friends.” — Jesus (John 15:15, NIV)
