Tell us what you’re carrying.
You don’t have to dress it up or use religious words. Just tell us what’s going on. Our family reads every single request, and we will pray for you — actually, by name, this week. You don’t need to leave a name — anonymous is completely fine. And your email is never shown on this site or shared with anyone.
“Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.” — Psalm 62:8 (NIV)
What prayer is — and what it isn’t
We want to be honest with you, because Jesus always was. Prayer is not a vending machine, and God is not a genie. Not every prayer is answered the way we hope — Scripture never promises that, and we won’t either.
Even the apostle Paul pleaded three times for God to remove a thorn from his life, and God’s answer was: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:8–9).
But here is what prayer is: it is a broken person talking to a Father who is actually listening. “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us” (1 John 5:14).
And it comes with a promise — not that every circumstance changes, but that you are never carried alone: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6–7).
And yes — Jesus said “Ask and it will be given to you” (Matthew 7:7). Read four verses further and He tells you what is guaranteed: “how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him” (Matthew 7:11).
The promise is a good Father giving what is good — as He knows good — not always the way we would have written it. That’s not a trick. It’s what makes praying safe.
He hears. He answers — sometimes yes, sometimes no, sometimes not yet — and He never wastes a prayer. That’s why we pray.
