When you feel unwanted
If you’ve ever felt left out or unwanted, you’re in good company on this page — better company than you might think. God built us to belong, so rejection cuts deep. But here’s the gentle surprise at the center of this story: no one understands that ache better than Jesus.
His own hometown turned on Him (Luke 4:29). For a while, even His family misunderstood Him (Mark 3:21). And on His hardest night, His closest friends ran (Mark 14:50). Whatever your version of that looks like — He knows this feeling from the inside.
“He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him” (John 1:11).
When you tell Jesus you feel unwanted, He doesn’t have to imagine it. He remembers — and He meets you with kindness.
“The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone” (Luke 20:17).
Jesus said that about Himself: the stone others passed over became the most important one of all. In God’s hands, being overlooked is never the end of your story.
“Rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him” (1 Peter 2:4).
Other people’s no cannot touch God’s yes. Right now, exactly as you are: chosen and precious.
We’ll be honest with you, gently: we can’t promise every person will come around. Even King David knew that ache — “Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me” (Psalm 27:10). But there is one welcome that is never taken back:
“Whoever comes to me I will never drive away” (John 6:37).
That includes you. Today. Just as you are.
Feeling unwanted today? You’re wanted here. Let us pray for you — by name.
