When you’re not sure God is real — or wants you
Doubt doesn’t scare God. Thomas refused to believe Jesus rose from the dead until he saw proof — and Jesus didn’t yell at him. He showed him His hands (John 20:27).
Even John the Baptist, sitting in prison, sent Jesus the most honest, hurting question in the Gospels: “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?” (Matthew 11:3).
Jesus answered him — then praised him in front of the crowd.
One dad prayed the most honest prayer in the Bible: “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24).
Jesus said yes to that prayer. Half-faith, brought to Jesus, counts.
So don’t fake it. Test it: “Taste and see that the LORD is good” (Psalm 34:8). Jesus made honest seekers a promise: “Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God” (John 7:17).
Try this: read the Gospel of John. John says right up front why he wrote it: “that you may believe” (John 20:31) — it was written for people carrying real questions. Ask yours out loud as you go.
He’s not fragile.
Bring the questions: start with His stories, or send us the hardest one you’ve got.
